I'd save the effort and install SharePoint. Won't run on Win7, but you might have room elsewhere. Plus, you can find a bunch of other uses too.

@Denis Kelley well the problem is we have a whole setup in min that would not use an Internet connection. (see attatchment) so access is the only DB program i know that could work.

How many items are there to manage?  Would this be easier just in Excel and whoever checks out the item just logs it?   I hate to say it - but we just used a piece of paper taped to the server room...

currently about 15 and growing with about 2 / 3 each month (ranging form headphones, mobile phones and laptops) so using excel would work but with the current growth it will last for a few months and...
